15-Year-Old Boy in Balkh Ends His Life by Hanging

A 15-year-old boy in Balkh ended his life by hanging.

Sources identified the teenager as Fazl al-Rahman, saying that he committed suicide on Sunday night.

According to sources, Fazl al-Rahman was born and raised in Qala-e-Zal district, Kunduz province. He was reportedly busy doing manual labor in Qarn Toghai village of Kaldar district, Balkh province.

Sources informed that Fazl al-Rahman hanged himself from the ceiling of a room in his employer’s house.

The causes of this suicide attempt have not been immediately determined, and the Taliban have not expressed an opinion in this regard.

Suicide rates, in particular among young people, have been on the rise since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, and a low life expectancy due to the trauma of the Taliban’s rise and restrictions, unemployment and poverty have been reported as the main factors.
