The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has estimated that the lives of 18.9 million people in Afghanistan are potentially threatened by hunger.
An estimated 18.9 million Afghans face potentially life-threatening levels of hunger between June to November 2022, SIGAR tweeted on Sunday (November 13th).
“Among these, nearly 6 million people are facing near-famine conditions,” SIGAR added.
SIGAR previously said that 24.4 million Afghan citizens have resorted to rationing out food or skipping meals to meet their basic needs.
