2 Relatives of Former ANDSF Member Detained by Taliban in Parwan

The Taliban’s intelligence forces have reportedly detained a teenage son as well as another relative of a member of the former Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). This ANDSF member had previously served as a police commander within the former government’s armed forces.

Sources have informed Hasht-e Subh that on Tuesday, the Taliban detained a teenage son and another close relative of the company commander for Jabal al-Saraj district named Qand. The arrest occurred in Mians Gozar village and both individuals were taken to an undisclosed location by the Taliban.

Sources reported that the Taliban have subjected these individuals to physical pain, and incarcerated them.

Sources have claimed that commander Qand had been residing in a concealed location out of fear of being targeted by the Taliban.

No official response has been made by the Taliban regarding this matter at this time.

It is worth mentioning that the detention of individuals who worked for the previous government, as well as their family members, is not an unprecedented action by the Taliban. Detaining previous government officials and their relatives is a tactic that the Taliban has utilized in the past to exercise control and assert their authority.

This week, the group took into custody three individuals from Panjshir province.
