Two employees of the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) have gone missing in Spin Ghar district, sources in Nangarhar confirmed.
Hasht-e Subh reported on Sunday that two social workers from the Swedish Committee involved in reconstruction projects have disappeared in Spin Ghar district. The source did not want to be identified.
There was no further information provided on the identity of the missing individuals, however.
One independent source reported the Taliban took these individuals to an unknown location after an activist in Sweden burned the Quran.
Taliban security officials in Nangarhar have not immediately commented on this matter.
Two far-right political activists in Sweden and the Netherlands recently burned copies of the Muslim holy book.
The extremist act sparked outcry in Islamic countries. Taliban members in Afghanistan also took to the streets and chanted slogans.
