8 Subh, Kabul: The European Parliament has passed a resolution calling for the invitation of Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the national resistance front (NRF).
The EU parliament has 36 articles. The preamble to the resolution states that Pakistan has assisted the Taliban in the war in Panjshir by sending troops and providing air support. Pakistan has been said to have served as a safe haven for Taliban fighters in the past.
Ahmad Massoud leads the forces of the NRF in the Panjshir Valley. He went to his birthplace after the fall of Kabul. However, the NRF and the Taliban initially entered into negotiation, but after the failure of the negotiations, the Taliban launched an aggression on Panjshir. The Taliban, later, claimed a complete control over the valley. NRF forces, on the other hand, say that Panjshir has not completely fallen to the Taliban.
There have been numerous reports of forced relocation of Panjshir residents and human rights violations.
Ahmad shah Massoud, father of Ahmad Massoud, was also invited to the European Parliament in 2001, where he spoke out about the international community’s silence against the situation in Afghanistan. His diplomatic visit took place on March 30, 2001.
Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated on September 9, 2001.
