
Another Assassination in the Chain of Rising Violence in Pakistan: Commander of Quetta Counterterrorism Police Gunned Down
In a new development, the Commander of Quetta’s Counterterrorism Police, Saeed Ahmad, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen, according to reports from Pakistani media.
On Sunday, September 17th, it was reported that Saeed Ahmad, who led the Quetta Counterterrorism Department, fell victim to an ambush by armed assailants in the Jail Road region. The attack resulted in his untimely demise.
The police have confirmed that the attackers managed to escape the scene after carrying out the deadly assault.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for this distressing incident, issuing a statement on Saturday, September 16th.
In their statement, the BLA declared, “This official was implicated in various crimes, including home invasions targeting non-combatant Baloch civilians, forced disappearances, and the tragic killings of innocent individuals.”
This incident follows a series of separate events in which at least eight Pakistani soldiers and officers lost their lives in the north-western regions of the country in recent days.
It is essential to highlight that Pakistan, with a particular focus on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has experienced a surge in terrorist activities in recent months.
As per available reports, approximately 389 individuals have lost their lives, with an additional 659 sustaining injuries in various parts of the country during the first half of this year due to acts of violence.
