Empowering Women Through Handicrafts: Herat’s Exhibition Defies Taliban Restrictions

According to local sources in the Herat province, handicrafts and productions exhibition by women has been held in this province. The exhibition opened on Sunday, April 30, and will continue for two days.

The purpose of this exhibition is to market handicrafts and productions made by women, with 120 women participating. The women have displayed and offered for sale their handicrafts, including clothing, carpets, confectioneries, pickles, jewelry, and other items.

Meanwhile, officials at the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the western zone of Afghanistan say that this is the sixth exhibition held in the past year to market women’s handicrafts in the province.

This exhibition is taking place at a time when the Taliban, who have gained control over the country, have imposed numerous restrictions against women and girls.
