The representative of the European Union expressed concern about the situation of Afghan women in Taliban-occupied Afghanistan in HSD.
The third session of the Herat Security Dialogue (HSD) titled “Women of Afghanistan: Betrayal, Apartheid and Resistance” was held on Tuesday (November 29th) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
“Women’s rights are not a Western issue, but the presence of women is important for the economy, development and stability of a country,” Tomas Niklasson, Special Envoy of the European Union for Afghanistan, said in this conference. “The Taliban have a responsibility to protect women’s rights and respect them.”
“Our position regarding the condition of women is clear – we are deeply concerned and more measures should be taken to address the women situation,” he added.
HSD under the title “Inclusive Political System: The Way forward” is being held in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. About 200 representatives from different countries have participated in this conference.
