
Explosion in Kunduz’s Saidabad Grand Mosque
Kabul – Reports from Kunduz indicate that an explosion took place at the Saidabad Grand Mosque of Kunduz province during Friday prayers.
According to initial reports, 15 people were killed and 90 others were injured in an explosion during Friday prayers in Kunduz.
AFP reported that 15 people were killed and over 90 were wounded in Afghanistan’s Kunduz mosque blast.
In a video released, a Kunduz resident says a suicide attack took place inside the Saidabad Mosque.
The suicide bomber struck a Shiite mosque on Friday, October 8 in Kunduz province.
The person speaking in the video claims that dozens of people were killed and injured in the blast. The man introduces himself as Mohammad Nazif Naimi, saying that the explosion took place inside the mosque.
A resident of Kunduz told 8am that he saw that the injured in the blast were being rushed to the hospital by the people.
Independent sources have not yet commented on the blast. Kunduz Taliban officials also did not provide details about the blast.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman and deputy minister of information and culture, confirmed the blast near the Kunduz port in central Kunduz at a Shiite mosque.
According to Mujahid, a number of civilians were killed and wounded in the blast.
Mujahid says Taliban special forces arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
Footage from the blast shows that the death toll is high.
