Explosion on a Car Carrying Taliban Members in Kunar

8am, Kabul: An explosion in Asaad Abad, the capital of eastern Kunar province in Afghanistan, has reportedly injured three Taliban members.

Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported that the director of the mines and Petroleum for Kunar province is wounded in the blast along with two Taliban members.

According to the report, the explosion took place on Wednesday (September 29) when the Taliban official was about to cross the street.

The cause of the explosion was said to be a roadside mine.

The Taliban director of information and culture for Kunar told BNA that the blast injured the newly-appointed director of mines and petroleum and two Taliban members.

Doctors at Kunar Central Hospital reported that one of the injured was in critical condition.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Islamic State in Khurasan Province (ISKP) has previously claimed responsibility for attacks on the Taliban in Nangarhar.
