Local sources in Herat province have reported the detention of a former military officer by the Taliban in this province.
Sources stated on Thursday, May 18, that the Taliban detained the former officer, Jamshid, in Herat last week upon his return from Iran.
The sources revealed that Jamshid had previously served in the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the former government.
It has been a week since Jamshid’s detention, and there is currently no information about his fate, the sources added.
The Taliban have not made any statements regarding this incident in Herat.
It is worth noting that the Taliban have frequently been involved in the arrest and killing of former military personnel.
In the latest case, a former military officer lost his life under torture by the group in Herat in March 2023.
