Kabul – According to reports, the first snowfall this year in the Salang Pass, through which the Kabul-North highway passes, started at 10:00 pm on Thursday night and continues to this day. The Salang Pass is closed to trucks for this reason.
The Salang Pass Protection Department says it is likely to continue to rain until Saturday. Therefore, drivers are asked to take precautions.
The department is said to have closed the highway to cargo vehicles to keep the north and south highways open for people to cross.
The department has asked drivers to consider standard speed, standard weight and height.
Drivers and passengers are also required to bring winter equipment, especially chains, warm clothing, precautionary foods and extra oils.
According to reports, it has snowed in some other provinces, including Badakhshan and Bamiyan.
