Following the deadly earthquake in Khost and Paktika provinces, the Japanese government has announced an immediate assistance package to the victims.
Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Seiji Kihara told a regular news conference that the government was coordinating moves to “provide necessary support promptly” as well as assessing the situation to grasp local needs, Reuters reported on Thursday.
The Taliban regime has also appealed to international organizations and the public for immediate help.
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Khost and Paktika provinces on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, has killed more than 1,000 people and injured nearly 600 others.
