Taliban officials in Khost province have reported the unsettling discovery of a mass grave situated near Shaikh Zayed University within the city’s confines.
The grave, holding the remains of approximately 100 individuals, was stumbled upon during routine construction activities for a modest water feature in the Salbanai area, as revealed by the head of the Taliban municipality in Khost on Monday, February 12th.
Initial observations suggest that the deceased were interred in their garments, with items of women’s and children’s clothing also present among the grim collection.
Sources familiar with the investigation have indicated that many of the victims suffered fatal gunshot wounds, underscoring the brutality of their demise. However, pertinent details such as the identities of the deceased and the timeframe of their tragic end remain shrouded in uncertainty.
