Natural Disasters Strike Afghanistan: Taliban Reports 21 Dead and Over 100 Injured

According to the Taliban’s Office of State Minister for Disaster Management, 21 people have been killed and 102 others injured due to natural disasters in Afghanistan since the beginning of the solar year.

On Thursday, a spokesman for the office, Shafiqullah Rahimi, stated in a video message to the media that the casualties were caused by earthquakes, heavy rainfall, avalanches, and flash floods in 30 provinces.

Rahimi also reported that over 2,600 residential homes had been destroyed due to these natural disasters.

In addition to the loss of human life and property, over 800 head of cattle and 27,000 acres of agricultural land have been destroyed, according to Rahimi.

Despite the ongoing devastation, Rahimi stated that international aid organizations have distributed humanitarian aid to more than 20,000 families in cooperation with the Taliban’s Office of State Minister for Disaster Management since the beginning of the solar year.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall today severely affected farmers in the northern Kabul provinces.
