The Taliban government has issued a new order regarding the institutions operating in Nimruz province.
In a letter issued on Sunday, January 8, the Taliban’s economic directorate in Nimruz has ordered aid groups to take guidance from the Taliban in hiring new employees.
In this letter, a copy of which was provided to Hasht-e Subh newspaper on Tuesday, January 10, it is stated that relief groups operating in Nimruz are obliged to follow the orders of the [Taliban’s] provincial leadership in the process of hiring new employees.
The Taliban’s letter warned national and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nimruz that if they ignore this order, they will be held accountable.
The Taliban have already imposed extensive restrictions on the work of domestic and foreign NGOs. This includes banning female NGO staff to work in Afghanistan.
