A group of youths and educators in Ghor Province organized a book exhibition titled “Culture of Reading and Study.”
The exhibition took place on Thursday, December 7, in the city of Ferozkoh, the center of Ghor Province, under the theme of “Promoting the Culture of Reading” among the youth and citizens of the province.
The organizers have stated that the objective of this exhibition is to “strengthen and institutionalize the culture of reading books” among the youth and citizens of Ghor Province.
Various books, including religious, historical, cultural, informational, and others, were displayed at the exhibition.
This initiative comes at a time when, following the resurgence of the Taliban, the country is grappling with increased poverty, economic challenges, a lack of hope for the future, limited job opportunities, and the youth’s reliance on social networks, leading to a decline in the culture of reading in the country.
Book vendors in Ghor also report that for the past two years, the book market in this province has faced a recession, with people refraining from purchasing books due to economic difficulties.
