School Building Destroyed in Fire in Paktika

A school building in Paktika was destroyed in the fire.

Local sources said that the school building in Chan Khwa village, Urgun district, Paktika was completely destroyed after being caught on fire on Monday evening, January 23.

After one of the rooms caught fire as a result of burning too much wood in the heater by the Taliban fighters who were stationed there, the fire got out of control.

The Taliban had turned this school into a religious center and housed some of their fighters in the school building.

Since August last year, the Taliban have turned several schools in Paktika province to religious schools and moved their fighters there.
