
Taliban Arrest 30 Individuals in Logar Province on Charges of Gambling and Cockfighting
Local sources in Logar province have reported that the Taliban, in accordance with their mandate of promoting virtue and preventing vice, have detained and imprisoned 30 residents of the province.
These individuals were arrested on Friday, June 9, in the village of “Padkhab-e-Shanayi” in the city of Pul-e-Alam, the center of Logar province.
The reason for their arrest has been cited as their involvement in gambling and cockfighting activities.
After three days of detention, the Taliban released these individuals upon receiving signed commitments.
According to sources, these 30 individuals were residents of various provinces, including Logar, Kabul, Khost, Panjshir, Ghazni, Kapisa, Paktia, Paktika, and Khost.
Local Taliban officials have not made any statements regarding this matter thus far.
The Taliban have declared a ban on “cockfighting,” which has a significant number of followers in the country.
