Local sources in Takhar province report that the Taliban have detained two former government officials after they crossed the border from Iran into Nimruz.
Sources, speaking to the Hasht-e Subh Daily, confirm that the intelligence forces of the Taliban arrested these two former government military officials, Ghulam Mohammad Nazari and Asifullah Azimi, on Friday, November 17, at the Nimruz border.
Nazari and Azimi are identified as prominent figures from the Rostaq district of Takhar province.
According to sources, Nazari and Azimi were military officers in the ministries of interior and defense in the previous government.
Sources add that after the fall of the previous government, these two individuals had illegally entered Iran but were detained and expelled by the Iranian police at the border.
As of now, the Taliban have not commented on this matter.
It is worth noting that since their takeover, the Taliban have detained and imprisoned dozens of former government officials in various provinces, especially those who have returned to the country from neighboring countries. In some cases, they have been accused of murder.
However, the Taliban have consistently denied these allegations, stating that they adhere to the orders of their leader’s “general amnesty.”
