Taliban Reports 9 Dead and Over 1,700 Homes Destroyed in Natural Disasters in 23 Provinces

According to the Taliban’s Office of State Minister for Disasters Management, nine people have been killed and over 1,700 homes destroyed due to recent earthquakes and flooding in Afghanistan last few weeks.

Mohammad Abbas Akhund, the Director of the Taliban’s Office of State Minister for Disasters Management, made the announcement in a video message on Monday.

Based on Akhund’s statements, 23 provinces have witnessed natural disasters such as earthquakes and flooding in the past six days.

Akhund added that 22,000 acres of farmland have also been destroyed due to the flooding.

The Taliban cabinet member admitted that they had not assisted recent flood victims.

This comes as reports suggest that the number of casualties from natural disasters in Afghanistan is higher than what Taliban have reported.
