The ISKP Claimed Responsibility for the Attacks on the Taliban
8 Subh, Kabul: The Islamic State in Khurasan Province (IS-KP) has claimed responsibility for the attacks on the Taliban in Nangarhar.
ISIS-affiliated Amaq News Agency claims that about 35 Taliban members were killed in the attacks.
The Taliban have not yet officially commented on the matter.
The city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, witnessed repeated explosions on Saturday and Sunday this week, which reportedly targeted vehicles carrying Taliban fighters.
At least five people were killed in the blasts, according to the regional hospital in Nangarhar. Significant numbers were also wounded, including civilians.
After announcing its presence in Afghanistan, ISIL had chosen Nangarhar as its capital. In the latest case, US forces launched an airstrike in Nangarhar, claiming that the mastermind of the deadly suicide attack at Kabul airport had been killed.
The attack took place during the US-led evacuation of Kabul, in which nearly 200 people were killed, including 13 American soldiers.
Taliban forces have also clashed with IS-KP fighters in Nangarhar during the previous government.
