The Taliban’s Ministry of Education announced the beginning of the new school year in Afghanistan but did not say anything about girls going to school.
On Monday, in a letter sent by the Ministry of Education of the Taliban to the heads of education of this group in the provinces, it is stated that boys’ schools will start on Tuesday, 21 March.
The ministry has added that considering security issues, a meeting will be held on the first day of school with the presence of scholars, scientists, ethnic elders, and teachers to discuss the virtues of science and knowledge.
A year has passed since schools for girls above the sixth grade were blocked in Afghanistan, and Taliban has not announced the opening of girls’ schools this year either.
This is despite the fact that Taliban has always called the ban on girls’ education a temporary issue.
