
Three Killed in Jalalabad, Including a Journalist
8am, Kabul: Three people, including local journalist Sayed Maroof Sadat, were killed by unknown gunmen in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
The incident took place on Saturday evening, October 2, in the fifth district of Jalalabad city.
The Committee to Protect Afghan Journalists reported that Sadat was riding in a relative’s car on his way home when unknown assailants fired at him through a rickshaw. According to the report, relatives of Sayyid Maroof Sadat were members of the Taliban.
The committee says that two Taliban members were also killed in the shooting. Sadat’s son and another civilian were reportedly injured.
The committee has called on the Taliban to investigate the incident seriously.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Nangarhar province has recently witnessed Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) operations. The group has targeted Taliban members in a series of attacks in the province. The Taliban report a fierce battle with the ISKP.
