In another tragic incident of suicide in the country, a man in Nangarhar province has taken his own life due to his poverty-stricken circumstances.
On Wednesday, May 24, a man named Nawaz from the village of Kan in the Rodatu district threw himself into a river.
Sources indicate that this man committed suicide as a result of his economic problems.
However, Abdul Basir Zabuli, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Nangarhar province, confirmed the event and stated that the 35-year-old Nawaz had been suffering from mental illness.
Over the past two years, the number of suicides in the country has been on the rise.
In the past three days alone, at least three individuals have committed suicide in Kabul, Ghor, and Nangarhar provinces, with poverty being cited as the reason for all three incidents.
