Herat sources report a devastating incident in which at least six individuals, including two Shia religious scholars, were tragically killed in an armed attack carried out by unidentified gunmen in the province.
According to local reports conveyed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily, the incident occurred around 3:00 PM local time on Friday, December 1, in the “Korra Milli” area in Jabraiel city, within the 13th district of Herat.
Sources state that unknown gunmen, traveling in a “Fielder” type vehicle, targeted the victims while they were in a rickshaw.
Meanwhile, Aref Rahmani, a former member of the national parliament, revealed, “These victims, returning from the fortieth-day memorial ceremony of Eid Mohammad Etemadi, were subjected to this heinous attack.”
He further disclosed that four women lost their lives in this incident.
The sources did not provide precise details regarding the exact number of female victims.
Reports indicate that three individuals were wounded in this incident, with the conditions of two of them reported as critical.
As of now, the Taliban in Herat have not commented on this matter.
This incident follows another unfortunate event approximately two weeks ago when two Shia religious scholars were targeted in a gunfire attack in the Jabraiel city square of Herat.
