
Tragic Mortar Shell Blast Kills Child and Leaves Another Injured in Nangarhar Province
An explosion of a mortar shell in Nangarhar province has resulted in the death of one child and injury of another.
The incident occurred on Thurday, 13 April, in the village of Duwani, Kot district of Nangarhar province.
Sohail, a six-year-old child, was killed in the incident and his eight-year-old sister was injured.
Taliban has confirmed the occurrence of this event in Nangarhar.
The injured child’s health condition has been described as worrisome.
The explosion of leftover ammunition from the war in Afghanistan occasionally victimizes children. Earlier, it was reported that some Afghan youths, due to increasing poverty, resort to selling leftover ammunition to provide food for their families.
