Local sources in Konar province have reported that unidentified individuals set a school on fire in the Chapa-Dara district of this province.
Sources indicate that this incident took place on Thursday night, May 25, in the Chambarak area of the Chapa-Dara district.
According to the sources, the school did not have a proper building, and the local community had constructed classrooms using tents and wood at their own expense for the students.
Taliban officials in Konar have confirmed the burning of this school and announced the initiation of investigations into the matter.
It is worth noting that with the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, girls’ schools are closed to girls above the sixth grade.
