Unidentified Gunmen Silence Local Melodies: Renowned Vocalist and Brother Assassinated in Nuristan
The Taliban’s local authorities in Nuristan province have confirmed that Muslim Gulzar, a local vocalist from Nuristan, and his brother were shot by unidentified gunmen.
The singer and his brother were targeted in the Mandol district of Nuristan on Monday, June 5, at around 5:00 PM.
Gulzar had recently returned from Pakistan and was on his way to a wedding ceremony when he was killed.
Saifuddin Sookh, the spokesperson for the Taliban in Nuristan, stated that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
The motive behind this murder remains unclear, and the person or group responsible has not yet claimed responsibility.
Muslim Gulzar was known as one of the prominent musicians in Nuristan.
It is worth noting that following the resurgence of the Taliban in the country, music and singing have been banned, and singers have been subjected to harassment, mistreatment, and humiliation on numerous occasions.
