It is reported that the Taliban group did not allow Commander Toofan, one of the group’s Uzbek commanders in Faryab province, to travel to Hajj.
Sources told Hasht-e Subh Tuesday that the intelligence department and the Taliban Ministry of Defense have been monitoring all movements of Faryab Uzbek commanders since last month.
Sources further add that Makhdoom Alem Rabbani, Qari Salahuddin Ayoubi, and Commander Toofan are living underground to avoid the Taliban’s raid and arrest.
Internal disputes between Pashtun and non-Pashtun Taliban commanders have escalated in the north over the past two months.
Last week, the Taliban, with thousands of fighters, launched an operation to suppress Mawlawi Mehdi Mujahid, the group’s only Hazara commander, from the ground and air in the Balkhab district of Sar-e Pol province.
