Why the ISI Chief Visited Kabul, Asks the Former PTM Member
8am, Kabul: Mohsin Dawar, a former member of the Pashtun Tahafuz movement (PTM) and a current member of the Parliament of Pakistan, says Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Quraishi should clarify the ISI chief’s visit to Kabul last month.
Dawar tweeted that the question had also been asked of the Pakistani Foreign Minister in the Pakistani National Assembly.
He said the issue was important for parliament and stressed that the people of Pakistan should know what ISI Chief Faiz Hamid is really doing in Afghanistan. He has also pointed out that who allowed him to make such a trip and why the Pakistan National Assembly is unaware of his visit to Afghanistan.
He raises questions about the visit, its purposes, and details. Mohsin Dawar also asked how Pakistan assesses the situation in Afghanistan.
Faiz Hamid, the Director-General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), arrived in Kabul on September 4. The trip was said to have taken place at the invitation of the Taliban. Many details of Faiz Hamid’s visits have not been reported in the media. The Taliban, say border concerns have been a major focus of dialogue. According to Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, Pakistan has offered to help Afghanistan in securing Kabul airport.
A short video of Faiz Hamid’s speech, recorded at the Serena Hotel in Kabul, has been released. “Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” the Pakistani Spy Chief told reporters in the short video. According to Pakistani media, his visit to Kabul was for one day.
