Young Man Commits Suicide by Hanging in Ghor

A young man committed suicide by hanging himself in Afghanistan’s Ghor province.

A 15-year-old teenager hanged himself to death on Wednesday at noon in Firuzkoh city, which serves as the capital city of Ghor province, as per the accounts of local sources given to Hasht-e Subh.

Sources suggested that the father of the teenage boy was struggling with drug addiction, and the family’s financial hardships and poverty are believed to be the reason for the boy’s suicide.

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, there has been a surge in poverty across the country. The situation has been exacerbated by the ongoing economic crisis, which has left many Afghans struggling to afford basic necessities. With poverty rates at alarming levels and unemployment rates soaring, families are finding it more difficult to make ends meet.
