8AM MEDIA invites Afghan scholars and analysts to submit papers on topics relevant to diversity and inclusion in Afghanistan. We seek contributions that shed light on the critical role of social inclusion, social tolerance, and diversity within the Afghanistan context. Authors are encouraged to explore various dimensions of diversity, inclusion, and equality including those related to women, minorities, ethnic groups, sectarian and religious identities, political affiliations, and historical perspectives. This conference aims to foster an exchange of ideas, promote dialogue, and explore practical solutions to the challenges posed by discrimination and exclusion in Afghanistan.
Key Themes of the Conference:
1- Appreciating Diversity
- What are the causes of marginalization, discrimination, and exclusion?
- How marginalization has shifted across time and space in the country?
- What are the social assets that diverse identities may utilize to encourage collaboration to build a prosperous environment in Afghanistan?
2- Fostering an Inclusive Society
- Afghanistan’s diverse population brings together various cultural, linguistic, sectarian, religious, and other backgrounds and strengths. What challenges do these groups face in contributing meaningfully to Afghan society?
- Given the current circumstances, what strategies can foster an inclusive society that allows for comprehensive participation in building Afghanistan’s future?
- To what extent does historical evidence provide lessons for fostering social inclusion for a peaceful and prosperous society in Afghanistan?
3- Building Sustainable Social Systems and Structures for Equality
- How and why social systems and structures in Afghanistan have marginalized social identity groups based on ethnicity, gender, religion, and other sociopolitical factors?
