Local Taliban officials in Ghazni have reported that heavy flooding in several districts of the province has led to the destruction of approximately two thousand acres of agricultural land and 25 residential houses.
The Taliban’s Natural Disaster Management Department in Ghazni issued a press release on Monday, July 24th, stating that the recent floods in the districts of Khaja-Omari, Jeghatu, Waghaz, Khogyani, and Rashidan were caused by torrential rains and severe flooding.
According to the information provided by this office, at least 30 livestock have also perished as a result of these floods.
Meanwhile, the affected individuals have expressed that all of their agricultural produce has been lost, and they are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
It is worth noting that parts of Ghazni have been witnessing severe floods for the past three days.
Adding to the tragedy, yesterday, in the Tekana area of Jalriz district in Maidan Wardak province, 25 people lost their lives due to flooding, and dozens of others are still reported missing.
