Based on the findings of the 2026 Global Peace Index, Afghanistan has been ranked as the seventh most unsafe country in the world.
The Global Peace Index said in a report released on Thursday, June 11, that among the 163 countries assessed in the index, Afghanistan is among the bottom seven countries on the ranking.
According to the Global Peace Index, the countries ranked below Afghanistan are South Sudan, Israel, Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Russia.
Out of the 163 countries assessed, 99 experienced a decline in peace levels, while 62 saw improvements in their peace conditions.
The report also states that 119 countries have become less safe compared to 2008.
The index emphasized that the global decline in peace continues, with armed conflicts being one of the primary factors contributing to this situation.
The regional section of the report notes that after Nepal, the countries recording the sharpest declines in the peace index were Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, and Tanzania.
According to the report, some countries have witnessed minor improvements; however, these gains have not been sufficient to halt the overall global decline in peace.
According to the index’s findings, Afghanistan continues to rank among the countries with the lowest levels of peace in the world.
