Ali Reza Bikdeli, Iran’s ambassador in Kabul, has emphasized that his country will continue to play its role in ensuring Afghanistan’s economic stability and development.
The Iranian Embassy in Kabul stated on Monday, 17 November, that Bikdeli made the remarks at the opening ceremony of Afghanistan’s National and International Industry and Trade Exhibition. The statement added that Iran stands with the people of Afghanistan and the Taliban more than ever in advancing economic objectives.
With 40 booths and the participation of 100 traders, Iran occupies the largest hall at the exhibition.
The exhibition opened today in Kabul and is scheduled to run until 19 November.
According to reports, the Taliban, following recent tensions and in an effort to reduce their trade dependence on Pakistan, have turned to alternative routes through Iran.
The Taliban are increasingly using Iranian facilities to transport shipments to the port of Chabahar for onward delivery to India.
