Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Switzerland, has announced that the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council will begin in Geneva today.
Andisha said on his X account on Monday, September 7, that the session will run from September 7 to October 7, 2026, at the UN headquarters in Geneva, with the situation in Afghanistan among the key issues on the agenda.
He said Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan, will also present his report during the session, focusing on the “rights of children.”
Andisha added that a statement by Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission and the holding of multiple side events on various Afghanistan-related issues will constitute a major part of advocacy efforts and activities during the week.
