Due to heavy snowfall for the last four days, the route between Bamiyan and Ghor in Bekak pass is closed and there are 400 passengers stuck in the pass without receiving support from the local authorities.
The identity of the dead woman is not clear due to lack of access to the area and there are many more passengers (women and children) vulnerable to death in case urgent support is not provided and the pass is not cleared.
A passenger, waiting for the pass to reopen in the Yakawlang district of Bamiyan told Hasht-e Subh that hundreds of passengers have gathered in the district bazaars due to lack of space in the lodgings and the lodgings’ conditions are miserable, but there is no option for the passenger. High mountains lock the central Afghanistan and the routes to Capital Kabul usually get closed during the winter season as a result of snowfalls and weather condition. In addition to the snowfalls that create problem for traffic, weak roads and infrastructures create tragedy time to time, but the government has given the least attention to the central Afghanistan for the last 20 years.
