The Taliban have ordered their forces to track and arrest anyone using satellite internet.

Shawn VanDiver, head of Afghan Evac, published an audio file from Taliban members on X on Tuesday, September 30, in which one Taliban member is heard saying that individuals using Starlink internet are considered important and must be detained.

Some citizens of Afghanistan have connected to satellite internet through foreign user accounts.

This directive comes as citizens of Afghanistan face a nationwide internet blackout following the shutdown of fiber-optic networks.

Experts have warned that such measures not only restrict freedom of communication and access to information but also carry serious economic and humanitarian consequences for the people of Afghanistan.
