As the third round of talks between the Taliban and Pakistan in Istanbul failed, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s Minister of Information, warned that his country will use all available options to safeguard its national sovereignty and protect its citizens.
In a post on X on Friday, November 7, Tarar wrote that from now on, “all responsibility lies with the Taliban.”
He emphasized that it is now the Taliban’s duty to uphold their commitments under the Doha Agreement to combat terrorist groups.
Tarar added, “Pakistan has no enmity with the people of Afghanistan; however, it will never support any actions by the Taliban regime that harm the interests of the Afghan people or neighboring countries.”
His remarks come amid reports that the third round of talks between the Taliban and Islamabad, aimed at establishing a mechanism for counterterrorism and cross-border security cooperation, has failed.
Pakistani officials had earlier stated that their country has only one demand from the Taliban: to halt Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacks launched from Afghan soil against Islamabad.
