Reza Shahir, a former journalist of Rah-e-Farda TV, has been released after enduring two days of imprisonment and torture at the hands of the Taliban.
Rahman Mirzad, a colleague of Shahir, confirmed to Hasht-e Subh that the journalist regained his freedom on the night of June 19, escaping from Taliban captivity.
Mirzad revealed that not only was Reza Shahir detained but he also suffered brutal torture inflicted by Taliban forces along the Herat-Kabul route in Zabul province.
The Taliban have not made any stamtement regarding this issue.
Reza Shahir, who worked as a journalist for Rah-e-Farda TV, was apprehended by the Taliban on the night of June 17 in the Shahjoy area of Zabul province.
Approximately one year ago, Reza Shahir had traveled to Iran and returned to the country to renew his visa.
It is worth noting that since their seizure of power, the Taliban have detained, imprisoned, and subjected numerous journalists to torture.
