Local sources in Takhar province have reported that a number of the Taliban have been sieged by National Resistance Front (NRF) forces in Ishkamish district of the province.
Sources have reported that the Taliban rebels had launched a cleaning operation in parts of this district since on Monday, August 15.
According to sources, the NRF forces have sieged the Taliban fighters in the village of Anjir, a part of the areas that the Taliban had chosen for the cleaning operation.
Sources added that the clashes between the two sides continued in this area for a couple of hours that day, and so far no casualties have been reported on both sides.
Meanwhile, 40 Taliban fighters were captured by the NRF in Panjshir on Monday.
