Reports from local sources reveal that the Taliban publicly lashed five individuals in Kandahar province.
According to verified information obtained by the Hasht-e Subh Daily, these individuals underwent corporal punishment on Wednesday, March 27, following a verdict issued by the Taliban’s lower court situated in the Arghandab district.
The Taliban leveled charges of “moral corruption” against these individuals, resulting in the administration of 39 lashes to each offender.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that the accused have been handed a two-year prison sentence, as per the sources.
Despite mounting domestic and international pressures calling for adherence to human rights principles and the cessation of public punishments, the Taliban persist in conducting summary trials and meting out public penalties.
