Mullah Shirin, the Taliban governor of Kandahar, has rejected a claim by a Pakistani military spokesperson that a meeting with foreign militants was held in the province.
The press office of the Taliban governor of Kandahar said in a statement on Friday, October 2, that Pakistan was making such claims in an attempt to justify the killing of civilians in Afghanistan and other actions.
The Taliban added that they do not need to invite foreign militants or meet with them.
Sharif Chaudhry, a spokesperson for the Pakistani military, claimed at a press conference on Thursday that the meeting was held on August 26 in Kandahar and was led by the Taliban governor of the province.
According to him, representatives of the Balochistan Liberation Army, al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, and the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which he linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, attended the meeting.
