Local sources reveal a disturbing incident in Faryab Province, where a man named Kamaluddin Qara reportedly lost his life under brutal torture orchestrated by “Omidullah Dayi Muawiya,” the director of Taliban intelligence in the Qarghan district and the nephew of the Taliban’s Minister of Agriculture, Mullah Ataullah Omari.
According to accounts received by Hasht-e Subh, Kamaluddin Qara was apprehended from his residence by Taliban intelligence forces on Thursday, February 8th. Shockingly, the same evening, his lifeless body was handed over to his family by the group.
Sources claim that Kamaluddin’s family, involved in trade with Turkmenistan, had been threatened with extortion by the Taliban intelligence director. When the family resisted paying the demanded amount to “Muawiya,” Kamaluddin was reportedly detained and subsequently murdered.
Omidullah Dayi Muawiya, identified as the nephew of Mullah Ataullah Omari, the acting minister of Taliban’s Agriculture and Irrigation.
Accusations against the Taliban intelligence director in the Qarghan district extend beyond this incident, as sources assert ongoing “extortion” practices targeting residents. Allegedly, the director consistently employs intimidation and abuse under various pretexts.
As of now, the Taliban have not issued any comments on this distressing matter.
This incident follows a similar case on January 21st, where a former interpreter for US forces in Afghanistan died under Taliban torture in Asadabad, the capital of Kunar Province.
It is important to note that international bodies have consistently accused the Taliban of human rights violations throughout their rule. Despite these allegations, the group has steadfastly denied any wrongdoing.
