The Vienna conference, organized for the third time by the Austrian Institute for International Affairs, commenced at approximately 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 3rd, in Vienna.
Various political figures, former officials, and representatives of opposing factions to the Taliban, including Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, and Mohammad Mohaqiq, the leader of the People’s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, along with several heads of Afghan diplomatic representations and members of civil society, participated in this conference.
Mohaqiq stated during the meeting, “To outline a desirable future, it is necessary to reflect on the past. The world’s and regional countries’ perspective on Afghanistan has been instrumental.”
During this conference, some political opponents of the Taliban also shared their views online.
Participants of the second round of opposition movements against the Taliban in Vienna had urged the United Nations to prevent any discussions in its special session in Doha concerning the continued dominance of the Taliban over the country.
