Pakistani media reported that the Torkham border crossing, which had been opened for the return of illegal Afghan migrants, has been closed again.
The Express Tribune newspaper reported on Saturday, March 28, that the crossing was closed after a Frontier Corps (FC) personnel member was injured in a shooting.
According to the report, the crossing had been reopened on Wednesday, and 292 migrants were returned to Afghanistan.
The report stated that the shooting came from the Afghan side.
Arrangements had been made in a temporary camp in Landi Kotal to facilitate the return process, and it was expected that the repatriation of Afghan citizens residing illegally in Pakistan would continue.
The Torkham crossing had been closed since October 25, 2025, due to clashes between the Taliban and Pakistan, and trade between the two sides stopped shortly afterward.
