The security command of the Taliban in Badakhshan Province has reported a heartbreaking incident: the suicide of a young girl in the heart of the region.
Ehsanullah Kamgar, the spokesperson for the Taliban’s security command in Badakhshan, has confirmed that the girl, a resident of the “Khirqa-e Mubarak” area in the city of Fayzabad, tragically took her own life on Friday night, April 5th, by ingesting rat poison.
Regrettably, despite efforts to save her, the girl succumbed to the poison after being transported to the provincial hospital.
The exact motive behind this distressing act remains unclear. However, Kamgar has assured that Taliban authorities have initiated investigations to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her decision.
The resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, coupled with a concerning rise in poverty and unemployment, has unfortunately led to a spike in instances of suicide among the nation’s populace, notably among its youth.
This latest tragedy comes in the wake of another sorrowful event in Nangarhar Province just last Saturday, where a young boy, grappling with economic hardships, tragically ended his own life by throwing himself into a 90-meter well.
