The United Nations has stated that women and girls in Afghanistan have been barred from participating in society and public activities by Taliban orders, with extensive restrictions imposed on their social lives.
On Tuesday, March 31, the UN reported that, according to a recent Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights report, schoolgirls and female university students still do not have permission to pursue education.
The report also notes that women who do not comply with Taliban-mandated dress codes are denied access to public transportation and are not allowed to use public services.
The UN added that Taliban fighters have prevented Afghan women, including staff, contractors, and UN visitors, from entering UN facilities across the country.
The organization emphasized that these restrictions have negatively affected the daily lives of women and girls in Afghanistan and that the human rights situation in the country remains critical.
