The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has announced that about 1.7 million people, including Palestinian refugees and non-refugees, depend on the agency’s services.
The organization reported on Wednesday, July 1, that UNRWA remains the largest provider of humanitarian assistance and essential services in Gaza and plays a vital role in maintaining regional stability.
According to the report, despite losing hundreds of staff members and seeing thousands more injured, UNRWA continues to be the largest humanitarian organization providing extensive services in Gaza.
UNRWA added that it provides thousands of medical consultations, educational services, vaccinations, and psychological support across the Gaza Strip every day.
The agency also emphasized that its services include water supply, waste management, emergency education, and support for hundreds of thousands of children through both in-person and online educational programs.
UNRWA called for greater support from the international community, stating that the continuation of its operations is vital for maintaining stability and addressing the urgent needs of the Palestinian people.
